Role Description The Utilities Locator is a full-time, on-site role based in Southaven, MS. This position is responsible for locating and marking underground utilities using specialized equipment and standardized procedures to support safe excavation and construction activities. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing work orders and site plans, conducting field investigations, performing 4-way sweep scans, and accurately documenting findings. The Utilities Locator will communicate clearly with site supervisors, construction teams, and internal staff to explain utility markings, potential hazards, and safety considerations. The role also involves maintaining equipment, following safety protocols, and adhering to company standards and applicable regulations. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills related to excavation practices and safe digging procedures to work effectively around underground utilities. Candidates should possess knowledge of utilities and the utility industry, including types of underground lines and basic infrastructure layouts. Candidates should possess computer literacy skills to manage digital work orders, maps, documentation, and reporting tools. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to collaborate with field crews, supervisors, clients, and regulatory stakeholders. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as walking, kneeling, and lifting equipment.
