Morenci OperationsLocated approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.Morenci is a unique company town where our employees and their families can reconnect with nature through hiking, fishing, camping, hunting and numerous parks. Our dedicated Parks and Recreation Division plans activities for people of all ages, making sure there's something for everyone to enjoy.What You Will DoPerform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.Train and mentor other employees.Perform other duties as required.What You Bring To FreeportTwo (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsAbility to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skillsAbility to troubleshoot machine systemsAbility to work and effectively communicate with othersAbility to read and use blueprintsPreferred QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDWhat We Offer YouThe estimated pay range for this role is currently $28.00 - $38.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
